SUMMARY:
Motor carriers. Provides for permanent trailer and tractor truck registrations; exempts all trucks, tractors, and trailers with manufacturer's gross vehicle weight ratings of 26,001 pounds or more from the motor vehicle sales and use tax; makes the violation of certain safety inspection provisions punishable as traffic infractions; increases the registration fee for motor vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 26,000 pounds; makes all rented motor vehicles subject to the local vehicle rental tax; and exempts certain carriers from the local BPOL tax.
