SUMMARY:
Judges; assistance. Allows the Chief Justice to designate circuit court judges to assist in the district court and district court judges to assist in the circuit court, but only in the 18th Circuit and District (Alexandria). A designated judge could not participate in a case in the circuit court if he had participated in the case in the district court. District court judges could not conduct jury trials in the circuit courts. A designated judge must consent to the designation.
This bill is recommended by the Committee on District Courts.
