SUMMARY:

Hardwood exemption to seed tree law. Authorizes the State Forester to grant exemptions from the seed tree law (§ 10.1-1162 et seq.) to individual landowners who wish to plant their land in hardwoods. The seed tree law requires that landowners wishing to cut 10 or more acres of land containing 25 percent or greater of certain species of pine leave a certain number of pines as seed trees to repopulate the area with pine.
