SUMMARY:

Safety belts on public school buses. Directs the Board of Education to promulgate regulations requiring all public school buses purchased on and after January 1, 1998, to be equipped with appropriate safety belt systems The regulations are also to require the wearing of safety belts by persons on public school buses. Section 46.2-1091 already requires school bus drivers to wear appropriate safety belt systems when the bus is in motion.
