1997 SESSION
HB 1813 Juvenile fingerprinting.
Introduced by: Jerrauld C. Jones | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Juvenile fingerprints. Requires fingerprints to be taken whenever a juvenile is taken into custody for a felony. Current law authorizes but does not specifically require law enforcement to take fingerprints when the juvenile is taken into custody, although the clerk is required to forward the fingerprints to CCRE if the juvenile is convicted of a felony. This change will ensure that the fingerprints are available for the clerk once the disposition is entered.
The bill requires a juvenile's fingerprints to be forwarded to CCRE whenever disposition of a juvenile case is deferred by the juvenile court or whenever the first offender law is used in a drug possession case.
The bill further clarifies that the first offender law applies to juveniles.
