SUMMARY:

Financial institutions; payment of small balances to distributees. Increases from $5,000 to $10,000 the ceiling amount of a balance of a deceased's account which banks, savings institutions, or credit unions may pay to a spouse or distributee prior to the appointment of an estate administrator.
