HB 1610 Confiscation of prohibited articles in jails.
Introduced by: John J. Davies III | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Confiscation of prohibited articles in jails. Requires sheriffs and superintendents to attempt to return articles confiscated from inmates to the rightful owner or family. If return is not possible, the articles shall be donated to a charitable, nonprofit organization or sold, the proceeds from which to be deposited into the jail's store or commissary account to be used for the benefit of the jail inmates. This is similar to the provision applicable to the Department of Corrections in its disposition of confiscated articles in state institutions.
