HB 1593 Charter; City of Norfolk.
Introduced by: Jerrauld C. Jones | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Charter; City of Norfolk. Allows the city council to dispense with any 12 regular weekly meetings of council in a calendar year. Currently, the council may dispense with any six regular meetings. Additional amendments allow council to vote by an electronic voting system and to vote on matters grouped in a block. Also, the bill deletes the current exceptions for assistant heads of police and fire departments from the exemptions from classified service, thereby bringing these positions into conformity with other city positions.
