Introduced by: A. Donald McEachin (by request) | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Powers of the City of Richmond. Provides that the City of Richmond may sell certain cemeteries which it owns and operates, but only after adequate provision has been made for the perpetual care of the cemetery and for indigent burials. That provision of the bill is effective July 1, 1997. The bill also permits the City to publish notices in any newspaper of general circulation, effective July 1, 1996. Finally, the bill requests the Department of Historic Resources, in conjunction with the City, to study the historic cemeteries and graves in the City and report its findings to the Governor and the 1997 General Assembly.
