SUMMARY:
Sales and use tax exemption; educational exemption. Grants a sales and use tax exemption for purchases by any nonprofit organization which combats illiteracy by (i) offering tutoring in adult basic education, family literacy, and English as a second language; (ii) offering tutoring to jail inmates; (iii) offering tutoring to school children in reading and math; and (iv) providing all materials free of charge to students. Literacy Volunteers of America would be among the beneficiaries of the exemption.
