SUMMARY:

Unemployment compensation; disqualification for benefits. Disqualifies an individual from receiving unemployment compensation benefits if it is determined by the Virginia Employment Commission that he failed to accept suitable work offered to him by any person (i) subsequent to his receipt of notice from his employer of a scheduled date of discharge, and (ii) before he files a claim for benefits. Under current law, an individual who fails to accept suitable work offered to him after he files for unemployment compensation benefits may be disqualified from receiving such benefits, but the statute amended by this bill does not currently specify whether such disqualification includes work offered to an individual prior to his separation from employment.
