976025757WHEREAS, Cecil K. Simcox, a retired Bristol businessman and a former member of the Washington County Board of Supervisors, died on February 24, 1996; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Bristol and a veteran of the United States Air Force in World War II, Cecil Simcox was one of the founders of the Washington County Little League and served on its board of directors for eight years; and
WHEREAS, in 1990, Cecil Simcox was elected to the Washington County Board of Supervisors, on which he served until 1994; and
WHEREAS, Cecil Simcox was a strong supporter of education, worked diligently to find more space for the county's Departments of Social Services and Health, and was heavily involved in the conversion of the Washington County Fire Department to the Washington County Fire and Rescue Department, which he headed as Director of Emergency Services in 1992-93; and
WHEREAS, Cecil Simcox was a member of the York Rite Masonic Lodge No. 12 and a 20-year member of the Goodson Lions Club, which he served as president in 1981 and 1982; and
WHEREAS, for his many contributions to his community and his dedicated service to its citizens, Cecil K. Simcox will be long remembered; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the passing of an exceptional citizen of Washington County, Cecil K. Simcox; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Cecil K. Simcox as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
