SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 388 Offered February 5, 1997 Election of Circuit Court Judge, General District Court Judge, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Judge. ---------- Patron-- Wampler ---------- Consent to introduce ---------- Referred to the Committee for Courts of Justice ----------

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly shall proceed on Friday, February 21, 1997, at the conclusion of the morning hour or any other joint and continuing order which may be agreed to on that day whichever occurs later.

To the election of a Circuit Court judge for a term of eight years commencing as follows:

One judge for the Thirtieth Judicial Circuit, term commencing July 1, 1997.

To the election of a General District Court judge for a term of six years commencing as follows:

One judge for the Thirtieth Judicial District, term commencing March 1, 1997.

To the election of a Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court judge for a term of six years commencing as follows:

One judge for the Thirtieth Judicial District, term commencing February 5, 1997.

And That in the execution of the joint order nominations shall be made in the order herein named, and that each house shall be notified of said nominations, and when the rolls shall be called for the whole number, the presiding officers of each house shall appoint a committee of three, which together shall constitute the joint committee to count the vote of each house in each case and report the results to their respective houses. The joint order may be suspended by the presiding officer of either house at any time but for no longer than twenty-four hours to receive the report of the joint committee.
