SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 347
Expressing the sense of the General Assembly that certain Virginia-produced or Virginia-refined fuels and energy stocks be considered for use in existing, and in the construction or renovation of state facilities.

WHEREAS, there are numerous state facilities which utilize various raw energy resources to generate heat, steam and air conditioning; and

WHEREAS, there are abundant resources of coal, coalbed methane and natural gas in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, energy production, refining, transmission and distribution operations employ a significant number of Virginians; and

WHEREAS, state facilities should be heated and cooled in the most effective manner possible; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia economy is dependent upon the sale of coal, coalbed methane and natural gas extracted from coal mines or reservoirs located within the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegate concurring, That certain Virginia-produced or Virginia-refined fuels and energy stocks be considered for use in existing, and in the construction or renovation of state facilities; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That consideration be given to using coal, coalbed methane, natural gas, and other energy sources produced or refined in Virginia to promote cost-effectiveness in the generation of heat, steam, or air conditioning; and, be it

RESOLVED FINALLY, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of the Department of General Services in order that he may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly in this matter.
