SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 326
Commending Vincent Genson.

WHEREAS, Vincent Genson, a 37-year veteran of the radio business, was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of the Washington Area, one of eight individuals and organizations so honored; and

WHEREAS, a resident of Fredericksburg, Vincent Genson began his career with the Washington Star Station Group in 1959, became producer-director for WMAL-TV shortly thereafter, then became assistant program director and program director of the company's AM radio station; and

WHEREAS, in 1972, Vincent Genson became general manager of WMAL-FM; and

WHEREAS, in 1978, Vincent Genson moved to WFVA in Fredericksburg, where he enjoyed a successful 12-year tenure; and

WHEREAS, Vincent Genson has also worked for Capital Radio Holdings, with stations in Colonial Beach and Orange County, and for American View, Inc., a radio syndication company, as vice president; and

WHEREAS, his long, varied, and successful career in radio make Vincent Genson most deserving of induction into the Broadcast Pioneers of the Washington Area; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby congratulate Vincent Genson on his recognition as one of the area's broadcasting pioneers; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Vincent Genson in honor of this prestigious award for his exceptional career in broadcasting.
