SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 183
Commending Theodore V. Morrison, Jr.

WHEREAS, Theodore V. Morrison was born on June 15, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, after his early education in Newport News, Virginia, Ted Morrison graduated from Emory University with B.A., LL.B, and LL.D degrees; and

WHEREAS, Ted Morrison served his country in the United States Army, the United States Army Reserves, and the Virginia Army Reserve National Guard; and

WHEREAS, named State Young Man of the Year in 1968, Ted Morrison was elected that same year to the Virginia House of Delegates, where he served with distinction until 1988; and

WHEREAS, while a member of the House of Delegates, Ted Morrison served on the Virginia Code Commission from 1974 to 1996, as its vice-chairman from 1980 to 1984, and as its chairman from 1984 to 1988; and

WHEREAS, during his 22-year tenure on the Virginia Code Commission, Ted Morrison was instrumental in the recodification of over 20 titles of the Code and played an important role in the establishment of the Administrative Process Act and in the creation of the Virginia Register of Regulations; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Virginia Code Commission, Ted Morrison made an outstanding contribution to the publication of Virginia's first Administrative Code; and

WHEREAS, in 1989, Ted Morrison was appointed to the Virginia State Corporation Commission; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the Virginia General Assembly recognize Theodore V. Morrison, Jr., for his years of distinguished service to the Virginia House of Delegates, to the Virginia Code Commission, and to the State Corporation Commission; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Theodore V. Morrison in grateful appreciation of his many valuable contributions to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
