1997 SESSION
WHEREAS, Dr. Taddesse Adera is a professor of English, Linguistics and Speech at Mary Washington College; and
WHEREAS, a native of Ethiopia, Dr. Adera received his bachelor's degree from Addis Ababa University and his master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Washington; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Adera has been a faculty member of Mary Washington College since 1989, where he teaches courses on short fiction, literature of resistance; and African literature; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Adera has been selected to receive Virginia's Outstanding Faculty Award; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Adera was selected from Virginia's more than 15,000 faculty currently teaching in Virginia's colleges and universities; and
WHEREAS, the nominating process for this prestigious award is highly selective, with most colleges limited to nominating only one or two professors per year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Dr. Taddesse Adera on his receipt of the Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Taddesse Adera as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation for his contributions to higher education in the Commonwealth.
