976061346WHEREAS, Dan Meier, the head coach of the state champion Chantilly High School football team, was named High School Coach of the Year at the 62nd annual Timmie Awards; and
WHEREAS, this highly prestigious national honor reaffirms Dan Meier's stature as one of the finest football coaches in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, before arriving at Chantilly High School in 1992, Dan Meier won two state titles as coach of the West Potomac High School football team; and
WHEREAS, in his first season at Chantilly, Dan Meier reversed the fortunes of the football program, taking a team that had won only three games the previous fall to nine victories and a district title; and
WHEREAS, his career winning percentage of over .800 has marked Dan Meier as a superior coach, but the 1996 season at Chantilly High School moved him into the highest echelon of his profession; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the Timmie Award, Coach Meier has been named the 1996 Coach of the Year by the Times Community Newspapers and by the Northern Virginia Coaches Association; and
WHEREAS, admired and respected by his players and his assistant coaches, Dan Meier is unsurpassed in his knowledge of the game, his unique ability to impart that knowledge to his players, his competitiveness, and his integrity; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Coach Dan Meier on his being named High School Coach of the Year; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Coach Dan Meier as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his remarkable success at Chantilly High School.
