HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 714
On the death of Alexander H. Williams, Jr.

WHEREAS, Alexander H. Williams, Jr., a prominent Richmond businessman and community leader, died on December 14, 1996; and

WHEREAS, a native of Richmond, Alexander Williams was a graduate of St. Christopher's School and a member of the class of 1942 at Virginia Military Institute; and

WHEREAS, during World War II, Alexander Williams served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of captain; and

WHEREAS, Alexander Williams was president of Expert Graphics, Inc., from 1947 to 1982, serving during that time as vice president of Financial Press, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, from 1982 until 1985, Alexander Williams was a member of the board of directors of Cadmus Communications; and

WHEREAS, an active member of St. Bridget's Church, Alexander Williams cofounded the Virginia Society for Human Life in 1967; and

WHEREAS, Alexander Williams leaves a lasting legacy of dedication to his family, his community, and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the passing of a distinguished Virginian, Alexander H. Williams, Jr.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Alexander H. Williams, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
