WHEREAS, the achievement of students in the Dinwiddie County public schools relies greatly upon the efforts and support of citizens willing to volunteer in the schools; and

WHEREAS, for 10 years, the Dinwiddie Schools Volunteer Program has proven itself to be an effective way of involving the community in helping to meet the needs of Dinwiddie's children; and

WHEREAS, these volunteers have assisted with tutorial programs, special events, reading, classroom activities, clerical tasks, and numerous other activities; and

WHEREAS, the Dinwiddie volunteers have contributed more than 125,000 hours of service during the past decade, a contribution worth more than $1.5 million to the Dinwiddie County public schools; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Dinwiddie County School Volunteer Program for its exceptional service to the Dinwiddie public schools; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Dinwiddie County School Volunteer Program in honor of the 10th anniversary of its founding.
