Whereas, in 1954, the City of South Norfolk participated with the Commonwealth of Virginia in the construction of an armory by conveying certain real property to the Commonwealth and making various improvements to such property; and
Whereas, the Commonwealth constructed an armory building which was used for National Guard purposes until the recent discontinuance of military activities; and
Whereas, the armory property is now located in the City of Chesapeake, and the City is in a position to utilize the building and grounds for various beneficial public purposes; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. That the Commonwealth of Virginia is hereby authorized to convey, with the approval of the Governor and the Attorney General, to the City of Chesapeake, the South Norfolk Armory Building and surrounding property located on Bainbridge Boulevard in the City of Chesapeake. The conveyance shall be on terms as agreed to by the Commonwealth and the City. The appropriate officials of the Commonwealth are hereby authorized to prepare, execute and deliver such deed and other documents as may be necessary to accomplish such conveyance.
