AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to amend and reenact § 20-14.2 of the Code of Virginia, relating to information provided to applicants for marriage license.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 20-14.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 20-14.2. Information to be furnished to applicants for license.

Every person who is empowered to issue a marriage license shall, at the time of issuance thereof, distribute to the applicants for the license, birth control information, information concerning genetic disorders, information concerning acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and the available tests to determine the presence or absence of the disease and, a list of family planning clinics located in the county or city of the issuing office and information on the criminal laws of the Commonwealth proscribing physical or sexual abuse of a spouse or other family member. Such lists and information shall be furnished by the Virginia State Department of Health.
