Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-144.1:1 as follows:

§ 18.2-144.1:1. Tormenting police animals.

Any person who intentionally torments an animal owned, used or trained by a law-enforcement agency or the Department of Corrections, while such animal is performing his lawful duties, shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
