978421172Whereas, Cal's, Inc., obtained an escheator's deed for $500 for 0.38 acres of land located at Route 288 and Chester Road in December 1988; and
Whereas, the 0.38 acres of land is the property of the Department of Transportation and has been since 1973; and
Whereas, Cal's, Inc., lost its $500 investment in the property, it's legal fees and the amounts paid in taxes since 1988; and
Whereas, Cal's, Inc., has no other means to obtain relief except by action of this body; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. That there is hereby appropriated from the general fund of the State Treasury the sum of $1,512.82 for the relief of Cal's, Inc., to be paid by check issued by the State Treasurer on warrant of the Comptroller to Cal's, Inc., upon execution by one of its authorized representatives of a release of all claims it may have against the Commonwealth or of any agency, instrumentality, officer, employee or political subdivision thereof, in connection with the aforesaid occurrence.
