VIRGINIA ACTS OF ASSEMBLY -- CHAPTER
An Act for the relief of Donald L. Wright.
[H 1644]
Approved

Whereas, after 30 years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia, Donald L. Wright retired on November 1, 1995; and

Whereas, prior to Mr. Wright's retirement, the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) calculated incorrectly Mr. Wright's monthly retirement benefit to be $2,089.55; and

Whereas, the monthly benefit that Mr. Wright receives is $1,821.65; and

Whereas, Mr. Wright based his decision to retire at age 58 on the incorrect calculation by the VRS and, as a result, has suffered a loss and will continue to suffer a monthly loss of $267.90 as a result of that miscalculation; and

Whereas, Donald L. Wright has no other means of relief except by action of this body; now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That there is hereby allocated from the funds appropriated to the Virginia Retirement System the lump sum of $37,419.00 for the relief of Donald L. Wright. This amount shall be paid by check issued by the State Treasurer on a warrant issued by the Comptroller, upon execution by Donald L. Wright of a release of all claims he may have against the Commonwealth or any of its political subdivisions or their officers, employees, or agents.
