CHAPTER 90 An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 46.2-749.2:8, relating to special license plates commemorating the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Jamestown settlement; fees. [H 1758] Approved March 3, 1997

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 46.2-749.2:8 as follows:

§ 46.2-749.2:8. Special license plates commemorating the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Jamestown settlement; fees.

A. On receipt of an application therefor on or after November 1, 1997, and payment of the fee prescribed by this section, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates commemorating the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Jamestown settlement.

B. For each set of license plates issued under this section, the Commissioner shall charge, in addition to the prescribed cost of state license plates, a one-time fee of fifteen dollars at the time the plates are issued. For each such fifteen-dollar fee collected, five dollars shall be paid into the state treasury and credited to a special nonreverting fund known as the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Fund, established within the Department of Accounts, to be paid annually to the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation.

C. The provisions of subdivisions 1 and 2 of subsection B of § 46.2-725 shall not apply to license plates issued under this section.

D. The provisions of this section shall expire on January 1, 2013.
