An Act to amend and reenact § 9-183.5 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the Private Security Services Advisory Board; membership.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 9-183.5 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 9-183.5. Private Security Services Advisory Board.

There shall be a Private Security Services Advisory Board which shall be composed of ten eleven members. Three Two of the members shall be private investigators,; two shall be representatives of electronic security businesses,; and five three shall be persons otherwise engaged in the representatives of private security services businesses providing security officers, armed couriers or guard dog handlers; one shall be a representative of a private security services business providing armored car personnel; one shall be a representative of a private security services business involving personal protection specialists; one shall be a certified private security services instructor; and one shall be a representative of law enforcement. The Private Security Services Advisory Board shall be appointed by the Criminal Justice Services Board and shall advise the Criminal Justice Services Board on all problems issues relating to regulation of private security services businesses.

2. That this act shall not be construed to affect existing appointments for which the terms have not expired. However, any new appointments made after July 1, 1997, shall be made in accordance with the provisions of this act.
