SUMMARY:

Claims; Snyder, Walter Tyrone, Jr. Provides $11,200 in relief to Walter Tyrone Snyder, Jr., for the physical, emotional, and psychological damages sustained during the seven years he was wrongfully imprisoned. Mr. Snyder was convicted by the Alexandria Circuit Court of five counts of rape and sexual assault in 1986. DNA tests subsequently demonstrated that he did not commit the crimes, and he was pardoned by Governor Wilder. The amount award is to be paid to the State Council of Higher Education and used to pay for two years of tuition and fees at a community college (up to $2,800). The balance of the money is to be used to pay for tuition and fees at a four-year public institution.
