SB 506 Insurance; continuing education requirements for insurance agents.
Introduced by: Richard J. Holland | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Insurance; continuing education requirements for insurance agents. Revises statutes governing continuing education provisions for insurance agents. Changes include new statutory definitions of "proof of compliance" and "received by the Board or its administrator," combined with a December 31 proof-of-compliance deadline to clarify agents' continuing education completion obligations and deadlines. Persons seeking hardship waivers must do so not later than three months before the end of the biennium. Additional changes include renaming the Insurance Continuing Education Board to reflect its oversight functions; reducing the Board's size from 14 to 12 members by eliminating the two seats held by representatives of the Virginia State Corporation Commission's Bureau of Insurance; and exempting the Board's activities from the Administrative Process Act.
