SUMMARY:
Professional regulation; Board of Psychology. Consolidates the regulation of all psychologists under the Board of Psychology and makes numerous changes to regulation of psychologists. Under this bill:
1. Clinical psychologists, who are now jointly licensed by the Boards of Medicine and Psychology, will be licensed by the Board of Psychology.
2. "Applied psychology" will be a new category of licensure.
3. Provisions regarding the confidentiality of investigative information, mandatory physical or mental exams for licensees under a disciplinary order, summary licensure suspension by telephone conference call and practice audit committees which applied to clinical psychologists under the Board of Medicine will now apply to all psychologists.
4. Licensees of the Boards of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, Dietitians and Nutritionists, Funeral Services, Nursing Home Administrators, Optometry, Professional Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Work, Psychology and Veterinary Medicine will be required to be reported to the appropriate regulatory board if they are being treated for mental disorders, chemical dependency or alcoholism. This requirement already exists for various other health professionals.
