SUMMARY:
Length of school year. Increases the length of the school year from 180 to 210 days, effective July 1, 2000. Board of Education regulations shall define the contractual period for teachers, now based on a 10-month, 200-day work year, to 210 days by July 1, 1998, and 240 days by July 1, 2000. The bill also increases from 160 to 187, by July 1, 2000, the number of contractual teaching days during the school year deemed the equivalent of one year in the first year of service by a probationary teacher.
