SUMMARY:

Language of perjury indictments. Repeals § 19.2-222, which sets forth the very specific averments currently necessary in an indictment for perjury. These averments are antiquated and redundant when a notice pleading of the necessary elements of the crime of perjury would suffice. This bill is recommended by the Crime Commission.
