1996 SESSION
SB 296 Early retirement for state employees and local officials.
Introduced by: Walter A. Stosch | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Early retirement provisions for certain state employees and local government officials. Allows state employees who are involuntarily terminated after twenty or more years of service on or after January 1, 1994, and who defer retirement to participate in the state health insurance program and receive natural death coverage under the group life insurance program upon retirement. The bill also expands the number of counties in which VRS members who were county administrators, county executives, and county managers, or city or town managers, and were involuntarily separated after 20 or more years of service, may retire with unreduced benefits. Political subdivisions may elect not to provide the unreduced benefits.
