Introduced by: Frederick M. Quayle | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Criminal records check for school board employees. Requires all local school boards (i) to require individuals accepting employment after July 1, 1996, to submit to fingerprinting and (ii) to obtain certain information from the Central Criminal Records Exchange. Under current law, the fingerprinting and records check are required only by those school boards named in the statute. The records are only searched for specific crimes, such as murder, neglect of children, arson, and sexual assault. School boards must conduct this check for all employees, whether full-time, part-time, permanent, or temporary. The individual may be required to pay for the fingerprinting and records check, at the discretion of the school board.
