Introduced by: Jackson E. Reasor, Jr. | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Tie breakers for elected schools boards. Authorizes the elected school board of a county with a traditional form of county government to appoint its own tie breaker. Elected school boards in counties having the county manager form of government (Henrico) currently have this authority. For purposes of appointing a tie breaker, an elected school board shall include those school boards comprised of elected and appointed members. If the school board fails to decide on the method of designating a tie breaker or whether to have a tie breaker, the circuit court shall designate a tiebreaker. An emergency clause makes this measure effective upon passage.
