SUMMARY:
Podiatry; definition. Expands the definition of podiatry to include amputation proximal to the metatarsal phalangeal joints but requires that such surgery be performed in an accredited hospital or surgery center. The definition specifically excludes amputation of the entire foot.
Any amputation is required to take place in a licensed hospital after consultation with the patient's physician or an attending physician.
