SUMMARY:
Child abuse and neglect. Provides that any person age 14 or older who makes a report which he knows to be false is guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor, unless it is his second conviction in which case it is a Class 2 misdemeanor. The subject of the report may have the records purged upon presenting proof of a conviction. This bill is a recommendation of the House Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions' Special Subcommittee Studying the Death of Valerie Smelser and the Joint Subcommittee Studying the Child Protective Services System in the Commonwealth (HJR 502). This bill is identical to HB 37.
