HJ 68 Study; continuing medical education.

Introduced by: Gladys B. Keating | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Study; need for requiring continuing medical education. Requests the Board of Medicine to study the need for requiring physicians of medicine and osteopathy to participate in continuing medical education. In its study, the Board must consider current medical school curricula content; any courses which may have been generally eliminated from the curricula in recent years and how potential gaps in knowledge from these eliminations are being filled; how the generalist initiative relates to the need for continuing medical education, particularly in terms of changes in acute care experiences; how many physicians would be affected by any requirement, i.e., how many do not currently participate in any educational activities; and what, if any, requirements would improve the quality of medical care in Virginia.
