SUMMARY:
Study; need for requiring continuing medical education. Requests the Board of Medicine to study the need for requiring physicians of medicine and osteopathy to participate in continuing medical education, with special emphasis on medical ethics. In its study, the Board must examine common occurrences of ethical conflicts among doctors and their patients, such as "ghost surgery," and current medical school curricula, including any medical ethics courses or requirements or other means of instructing medical students concerning doctor/patient relationships and the many dilemmas facing physicians in this high technology age. The Board is directed to consult with medical ethicists, patients, physicians, medical school officials, and other health professionals.
