SUMMARY:

Authority to prescribe, dispense or administer controlled substances. Allows practitioners to authorize, pursuant to an oral or written order or standing protocol issued by the practitioner of the healing arts in the course of his professional practice, registered and licensed practical nurses to possess heparin and sterile normal saline to use for the maintenance of intravenous access lines. Presently, nurses may only be authorized to possess and administer epinephrine.
