SUMMARY:
Insurance; contracts with providers. Prohibits insurers, health services plans and health maintenance organizations from, without cause, (i) terminating the contract with a provider (pursuant to §§ 38.2-3407, 38.2-4209 and 38.2-4311, respectively) or (ii) suspending, revoking or limiting the provider status of any such provider. Under the bill, these entities must disclose to the provider, prior to the effective date and in writing, all reasons for such action, and if terminated for quality of care reasons, the reasons must be identified with specificity.
