Introduced by: Julia A. Connally | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Summer school attendance for certain students. Authorizes the division superintendent to seek compliance with the compulsory school attendance law for any student who he requires to attend a special program of prevention, intervention, or remediation during the summer school session. This bill provides that the superintendent may seek compliance with the compulsory school attendance law if he determines that (i) improvement in the student's poor academic performance, or ability to pass the Literacy Passport test, or to be promoted is directly related to his attendance in the program, and (ii) efforts have failed to notify the student's parents or guardians of the attendance requirement, and (iii) the parents have failed to cooperate with school officials to secure the student's attendance.
