SUMMARY:

Appointment and term of school division superintendents. Deletes the requirement that superintendents be appointed within 60 days before March 1 of the year in which the term of an incumbent superintendent expires; a superintendent need only be appointed within 180 days after any vacancy occurs. School boards failing to appoint a superintendent within 120 days after any vacancy--not simply those occurring other than by expiration of a term--must submit in writing a report to the Superintendent of Public Instruction indicating its timely efforts to make an appointment.
