SUMMARY:
Public assistance. Amends provisions of the Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare (VIEW) to provide that an individual who is enrolled full time in, and making satisfactory progress toward completion of, a job training or educational program designed to result in self-sufficiency is exempt from other work requirements. The bill provides that appropriate education and training are work activities and will allow participants to receive education and training immediately, whereas under current law education and training are allowed only after completion of the six-month work requirement.
