HB 517 Criminal history records checks; school board employees.
Introduced by: W. Roscoe Reynolds | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
School board employees; criminal records checks. Adds the Cities of Bristol, Danville and Roanoke, and the Counties of Albemarle and Henry to the list of school boards that are required to fingerprint all new employees and submit the fingerprints and relevant information through the Central Criminal Records Exchange to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the purpose of obtaining criminal history record information regarding such applicant. The applicant may be required to pay the cost of the fingerprinting or criminal records check at the discretion of the school board. School boards do, however, have the authority to pay for the CRCs, from such funds as appropriated for this purpose. All school boards in Virginia are required to obtain criminal histories; however, those school boards not listed in this provision are not authorized to require fingerprinting or to access the FBI's national criminal records.
