1996 SESSION
HB 477 Licensure of funeral establishments.
Introduced by: Watkins M. Abbitt, Jr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Licensure of funeral establishments. Authorizes the Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers to grant hardship waivers to the requirement for licensure of funeral establishments that a full-time licensed funeral service person or funeral director be in charge. This provision allows the Board to grant licenses to two funeral establishments with small volumes of business which share one full-time licensed funeral service person or funeral director. The bill requires the Board to consider whether (i) the establishments have been in business for at least three years, (ii) no more than an average of 85 funerals have been performed at both locations in the last three years, and (iii) the distance between the two locations is 35 miles or less.
