SUMMARY:
Workers' compensation; sports officials. Excludes from the Workers' Compensation Act's definition of "employee," any person performing services as a sports official for an entity sponsoring an interscholastic or intercollegiate sports event or any person performing services as a sports official for a public entity or private, nonprofit organization which sponsors an amateur sports event. The bill defines "sports official" to include an umpire, referee, judge, scorekeeper, timekeeper or other person who is a neutral participant in a sports event. Excluded from such definition is a person otherwise employed by an organization or entity sponsoring a sports event who performs services as a sports official as part of his regular employment.
