SUMMARY:

Virginia Employment Commission; records and reports; report of new hires to Department of Social Services. Eliminates the July 1, 1996, sunset provision in current law requiring Virginia's employers to report the names and addresses of newly hired individuals to the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) within 35 days of the commencement of their employment. The VEC, in turn, is required to transmit this information to the Department of Social Services (DSS) within 21 days of receiving it. This law was initially enacted in 1993 as an initiative to assist DSS in enforcing child support orders.
