SUMMARY:

Public Procurement Act; cooperative procurement. Authorizes a public body which is also a utility operator to purchase, from a private utility operator, utility marking services as required by the Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act. The bill allows such public body to deviate from the Public Procurement Act in the purchase of such services if it determines, and sets forth in writing, that sealed competitive bidding is not in the public interest, and that the contract is awarded on the basis of competitive principles.
