SUMMARY:

Accident and sickness insurance; Medicare Supplement Insurance. Modifies the Medicare Supplement Insurance chapter in Virginia's insurance laws to conform to the National Association of Insurance Commissioner's (NAIC) model act. The changes (i) delete the exemption of policies issued to professional, trade or occupational associations, (ii) delete the language allowing the outline of coverage to be delivered to the insured at the time the policy is delivered, (iii) add language to the statute prohibiting the duplication of benefits provided by Medicare, and (iv) add a provision specifically allowing Medicare select policies and provisions to be addressed by the Medicare supplement regulators.
